Industrial Hard Chromium Plating
Hard chromium plating, as the name implies, is extremely hard (68-70 Rc as deposited) and as such is suitable for a wide variety of industrial applications that require resistance to wear. It is also the finest metal deposition to utilize when specifications call for very low smoothness characteristics on the roll face. Our processes yield optimum hardness (68-70 Rc as deposited), purity, and maximum bond strength of the chromium's adherence to the roll's base metal. Meticulous temperature control and state-of-the-art instrumentation are required to ensure high quality hard chromium plating, and hard chromium plated rolls must be precision ground after plating to obtain exacting tolerances for accuracy and surface finish.
Our seven hard chromium plating tanks can accommodate rolls and drums to the following sizes:
- Up to 30" in diameter x 200" overall length with weight up to 10,000 lbs.
- Up to 48" in diameter x 60" face and 140" overall length with weight up to 15,000 lbs.
Hard chromium plating is completely different from decorative chromium plating, such as is used on furniture legs, hubcaps, etc. Roll Technology does not do decorative chromium plating, nor do we plate on aluminum substrates. |
